Ogun Clamp Down On Waste Management Companies Over Violation

The Ogun state government, at the weekend clamped down on three waste Management companies in the state for violating environmental rules in the state.

The three companies are Ruili Recycling Limited, Mowe; Robust International Limited also in Mowe and Star Pipe Limited, in Sagamu.

Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Orensanya, who made this known in a statement said one of the companies was caught disposing waste around their premises, which made the state government to shut it down.

Orensanya also mentioned that Ruili Recycling Limited was found guilty of burning plastic and solid waste within its premises, and also disposing a storm of dirty water around its immediate Environment.

Oresanya, who decried the action of the companies, said by indiscriminately disposing waste, the companies wee exposing staffp, workers and residents of its immediate communities to a hazardous pollution which is lawfully unacceptable.

The commissioner also stated that the state government cannot sit and watch those industries expose the people to the dangers of Environmental pollution, adding that the companies will remain shut until their lapses are corrected.

“This act has led to contamination of ground water of these communities, making it dangerous, unsafe and unhygienic and also exposing the people to waste disposal which can make them to fall sick,” he said.
