Obasanjo Farms, Fan Milk, Partner On Expansion Of Dairy Farming

Fan Milk Plc, a leading player in the dairy sector in Nigeria, has partnered Obasanjo Farms Nigeria Limited towards advancing dairy farming expansion and promotion of local sourcing of raw milk in the country, NatureNews can report.

The partnership which involved the former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with Fan Milk, on a five year partnership agreement, will also provide training and technical capacity building for the personnel form both sides.

The core agreement of the partnership revealed thata section of the Obasanjo Farm, which was established on a 2,500 hectares of land and situated in Iseyin, Oyo State, would provide 300 heifers within the first year of the project while Fan Milk will import 100 pregnant heifers from Egypt.

The latter will off-take the fresh milk produced according to the terms of the five year partnership agreement.

During the signing of the agreement ceremony, Chief Obasanjo and Chairman of Obasanjo Farms Limited said: ”We are excited to partner with Fan Milk Plc to drive forward dairy farm expansion and local sourcing initiatives. By investing in training and capacity building programmes for local farmers, we will empower communities, enhance productivity, and contribute to the development of Nigeria.

”Joint investments in research and development will introduce modern framing techniques, advanced technologoes, and sustainable practices to optimize dairy production while minimizing environmentala impact.

Responding, the General Manager of Danone Sub-Saraha Africa said: ”The partnership emphasizes the importance of sourcing raw materials locally, empowering local farmers, improving their livelihoods, and contributing to the growth of the agricultural sector in the country.”

In his contribution during the signing of the agreement, Mr. Olusegun Ariyo, the Project Lead for Obasanjo Farms Nigeria Limited, said that at Obasanjo’s Farm, ”We are very pleased to bepartnering with Fan Milk Plc ( A Danone Company) on this remarkable journey.

The Managing Director of Fan Milk Plc, Mr. Kayode Adebiyi, said that, the strategic partnership between Fan Milk Plc and Obasanjo Frms Nigeria Limited is designed to leverage the strengths of both companies to enhance local dairy production, reduce import dependency, and foster sustainable agricultural practices.’
