Obama advocates earth protection to Mars colonisation

By Ojugbele Omotunde

The former US President Barrack Obama has stated that earth must be preserved before dreaming of colonising Mars because even nuclear war and unbridled climate change still cannot make the red planet liveable.

He said this while speaking at a renewable energy conference in the French capital Paris on Wednesday.

Obama adamantly opposed the concept of populating Mars due to concerns about Earth’s damaged ecology stating that Earth would still have oxygen after a nuclear war and that Earth would be a more habitable planet than Mars despite severe climate change.

Instead of finding new places for humans to live, he said, the goal of space exploration should be information acquisition and discovery.

During his talk, Obama discussed his climate record at the White House between 2009 and 2017 stating that facts spoke for themselves and came to the conclusion that it would be advantageous to preserve Earth’s habitability.
