NSEMA begins distribution of relief materials to flood victims in Niger

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) says it has begun the distribution of relief materials to victims affected by the 2022 flood across the state.

Alhaji Ahmed Inga, Director-General of the agency, announced this at the inauguration of the distribution of the materials in Kuchiworo village, Lavun Local Government Area.

She said that the directive to distribute the relief items was given by the state Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello to bring succour to victims of flood and other disaster related issues.

He commiserated with victims over the loss due to ravaging flood and assured them that with the support from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the state government, the agency would continue to provide palliative support to was hardship faced by victims of flood.

Inga mentioned the relief items presented to include bags of rice, maize, beans, groundnut oil and palm oil, mattresses, buckets, clothings, cups and baby diapers.

He said that the state government had made provision under its agriculture policies to enable farmers to cash in on the dry season farming to make up for their losses.

In their separate remarks, some of the beneficiaries appreciated the state government for the gesture and solicited more assistance from we’ll to do individuals to enable them come back on their feets.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 21 out of the 25 local government areas of the state were affected by flood disasters with about 382 communities and 50,000 people affected with 40 deaths recorded so far.
