NOSDRA Poised to Accelerating MOU with Petroleum Industry Operators in line with International Standards – DG
The National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) is implacably committed to ensuring that the Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with petroleum industry operators in the country was not only accelerated but also made to be in tune with international standards.
This assurance was given by the Director-General/Chief Executive of NOSDRA, Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke, while receiving members of the Board of Directors of Clean Nigeria Associates (CNA) who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja on Thursday.
Engr. Woke, who thanked the Board of CNA for the congratulatory message sent to him on his appointment, also acknowledged that the courtesy visit of the Association was a clear demonstration of recognition and value placed on NOSDRA as an environmental regulatory body in the industry.
He assured that he will give required attention to all the requests from CNA, adding that the issue of MOU with the industry operators will not only be looked into but also accelerated to ensure that the companies operate within the international standards.
Earlier in his remarks concerning the purpose of the courtesy visit, Dr. Adeshina Sadiq, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CNA who is also General Manager, Health Safety and Environment (HSE) of Seplat Energy, said the visit was to congratulate the DG/CE on his appointment and wish him a successful tenure, apart from seeking ways to strengthen relationship with NOSDRA and moving the MOU with the Agency beyond paperwork.
While expressing the Association’s quest for regional positioning by collaborating in oil spill response beyond the shores of Nigeria, including the Gulf of Guinea, he also wanted NOSDRA to expand the representation of CNA’s participation in the biennial GI-WACAF summit to include a Board member of the Association and another from its Executive.
