The management of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure, located in Ondo State, has raised a plea for urgent intervention from the federal government to address the issue of illegal land appropriation and destruction orchestrated by a group of land grabbers.
Provost Akinyemi Faduyimu expressed deep concern about the ongoing encroachment onto the institution’s land, urging security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the matter. He also appealed to traditional rulers in the state to play a role in preventing further incursions into the college’s property.
The recent incident, which unfolded just days ago, involved a gang of land grabbers invading the premises, causing unrest among the staff and students and prompting a protest within the institution. The management is distressed by this alarming trend, which has heightened fear on the campus.
Addressing the press in Akure, Provost Akinyemi Faduyile condemned the audacious activities of the land grabbers, emphasizing the need for immediate action. He specifically called on the federal government to use its influence to compel the trespassers to desist from encroaching on the college’s land situated in the Agbogbo and Benin Garage areas of Akure.
In addition to seeking government intervention, the Provost also sought the assistance of the general public, appealing for collective efforts to preserve the sanctity and existence of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure. The institution remains committed to its mission, and the management is hopeful that swift action will be taken to address and curb the menace of land encroachment.
