NITT Launches Autogas Conversion Workshops Across Nigeria
The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) has announced the establishment of workshops across the country to facilitate the conversion of petrol-powered vehicles to autogas.
Dr. Bayero Salih-Farah, the Director-General of NITT, revealed this development during a news conference held in Zaria, Kaduna State.
According to Salih-Farah, the institute has been diligently working on this project for a year and is set to begin the conversion process within the next two to three weeks.
NITT has partnered with manufacturers of the necessary conversion kits, which will be utilized at their workshops to facilitate cost-effective transitions from petrol (PMS) to autogas for Nigerians.
“We have engaged relevant stakeholders nationwide on the importance of transitioning from PMS to gas. Autogas is significantly cheaper, cleaner, and more convenient. By converting their vehicles to autogas, Nigerians can save a substantial amount of money. The cost of refilling a tank with autogas will be approximately 40 per cent lower than using petrol,” said Salih-Farah.
He further emphasized that adopting autogas as a fuel alternative would not only reduce environmental pollution but also substantially decrease transportation costs.
Salih-Farah encouraged Nigerians to embrace this initiative and take advantage of the benefits it offers.
Additionally, NITT is forging a partnership with the National Information Technology Agency to promote knowledge sharing on critical projects undertaken by the institute. The ultimate goal is to position NITT as a leading transport and logistics institute in Africa.
With these initiatives, NITT is making significant strides towards sustainable and cost-effective transportation solutions for the Nigerian population.
By facilitating the transition to autogas, the institute aims to contribute to a cleaner environment and empower citizens to make more economical choices in their transportation needs.
