NiMet Forecasts 3 Days of Thunderstorms, Cloudiness in Abuja

Thunderstorms and cloudiness are expected across the nation from Tuesday to Thursday, according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

The weather forecast from NiMet was announced on Monday in Abuja.

The Tuesday weather is expected to be cloudy with brief periods of sunlight over the northern area, according to NiMet’s weather outlook.

In the early morning hours, thunderstorms were predicted to pass through portions of the states of Adamawa, Taraba, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kebbi, and Kaduna.

Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated across portions of the states of Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, and Kaduna later in the day.

In the early morning hours, thunderstorms are predicted over portions of the states of Niger, Kwara, Kogi, and Benue, as well as the Federal Capital Territory.

It stated that thunderstorms were expected to develop later in the day over sections of the Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, Niger, and Nasarawa states.

According to it, a cloudy atmosphere is anticipated across the southern interior states and the coastal states, with the possibility of morning thunderstorms over parts of the states of Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Ogun, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Cross River.

Later in the day, the agency predicted thunderstorms to pass over portions of the states of Imo, Abia, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Ondo, Oyo, Anambra, Enugu, Edo, Delta, Lagos, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom.

On Wednesday, NiMet projected cloudy skies with brief periods of sunlight across the northern area and the possibility of thunderstorms in the morning hours over sections of the states of Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe.

Later in the day, thunderstorms were predicted to pass over portions of the states of Bauchi, Kaduna, and Zamfara.

The North Central area is expected to have cloudy skies, with thunderstorms possible in the early morning over portions of the states of Niger, Kogi, and Benue.

“Thunderstorms are expected later in the day over portions of the Plateau, the Federal Capital Territory, and Nasarawa states.

“Cloudy atmosphere is expected over coastal belt and inland cities of South with prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Enugu, Awka, Ebonyi, Imo, Anambra, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Lagos states in the morning hours.”

Later in the day, NiMet predicted thunderstorms and rain over portions of the states of Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, Lagos, Delta, and Akwa Ibom.

Over the northern region, the agency anticipated cloudy skies on Thursday with brief periods of sunshine.

According to it, an overcast atmosphere with a chance of thunderstorms over some of the states of Kogi and Benue in the early morning hours is expected over the North Central area.

It stated that thunderstorms were expected to develop later in the day over portions of the states of Enugu, Ekiti, Osun, Edo, Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa.

Flash floods may occur as a result of moderate to heavy rainfall, according to NiMet. The general public is urged to exercise the appropriate caution and refrain from driving or walking in floodwaters.
