Niger to Build $2m Poultry Farm

By Abdullahi lukman

Niger State government has revealed plans to build a $2 million poultry farm in Bosso Local Government Area of the state as part of a broader initiative to upscale the state’s livestock production.

The project aligns with the federal government’s livestock development program, with Niger State designated as a pilot.

Bago made the announcement during a meeting with local stakeholders in Maikunkele, the LGA headquarters, as part of his ongoing state-wide monitoring of government projects.

He emphasized that the poultry farm would create numerous job opportunities and contribute significantly to local agricultural productivity.

In his address, Governor Bago also highlighted the various infrastructure projects underway in the area, including extensive road construction efforts aimed at improving connectivity.

He called on residents whose properties were affected by these developments to cooperate with the government, assuring them that they would receive full compensation.

The governor also responded to the growing population in Bosso by announcing plans to build a general hospital to ease pressure on Minna’s overburdened healthcare facilities.

Bago also pledged to address electricity challenges in Kodo, another pressing issue for residents in the LGA.

Supporting the governor’s efforts, Senator Mohammed Musa, representing the Niger East Senatorial District, outlined his own contributions to the development of Bosso.

Musa praised Bago’s administration for its focus on the welfare of the people, particularly through the designation of Bosso as a Special Agro-industrial Processing Zone, which aims to boost agricultural output and create both direct and indirect employment opportunities.
