Niger Govt to Host National Green Summit, Demonstrating Commitment to Sustainable Development
Abubakar Usman, the Secretary to the State Government, has announced that Niger State is set to host the inaugural National Green Summit in the fourth quarter of 2023.
This strategic initiative aims to bolster agricultural development, youth engagement, innovation, and agroforestry, aligning with the state’s green economy agenda to enhance its overall economic progress.
Governor Mohammed Bago, recognizing the importance of sustainable socioeconomic development, has established the “Niger State Committee on Green Economy (NSCGE)”. The committee’s primary objective is to review existing policies and synchronize them with state-level policies, programs, and project implementations for the governance period from 2023 to 2027.
Additionally, it will ensure extensive
consultations are conducted in the process of transitioning the state’s economy towards sustainability.
The NSCGE has been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing the upcoming summit, which will serve as a pivotal platform for unveiling the Niger State Blueprint on Green Economy. This comprehensive roadmap will provide guidance to the State Government’s efforts in achieving a sustainable and prosperous future for Niger State.
