In a significant move to bolster food security, the Niger State Government has entered into a strategic partnership worth $25 million with PJS Group.

This collaboration aims to expand the production of shea butter, soya beans, rice bran oil, and other agricultural commodities within the state.

Bologi Ibrahim, the Chief Press Secretary to the Niger State Governor, disclosed this development on January 17, 2024.

The agreement, titled “Expansion Strategy for 2024 in Niger State,” outlines plans for the establishment of a shea butter extraction factory, along with the production of soya and rice bran oils, among other initiatives.

The statement highlights that PJS Group already has a significant footprint in the state through Agro Farms Ltd, a large-scale rice farm in Swashi village, Borgu Local Government Area, covering approximately 3,000 hectares with a $15 million investment.

Moreover, PJS Group has invested in Kiara Rice Mills Limited in Kpatsuwa village, Mokwa Local Government Area, producing an impressive 350,000 metric tons of rice annually.

The recent partnerships with the Niger State government in the agricultural sector are expected to yield positive outcomes, contributing to job creation, increased agricultural activities, and aligning with the governor’s vision for an agricultural revolution in the state.

This collaboration signifies a concerted effort to enhance economic opportunities and promote sustainable agricultural development in Niger State.
