By Abdullahi Lukman

Nestlé Nigeria Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable water management, describing it as essential to business resilience and national development.

The company made this known at the 2nd Annual Water Quality Conference 2026 held on Tuesday in Abuja.

In her remarks, Nestlè’s Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Lead, Victoria Uwadoka, highlighted the critical role of water in public health, economic
growth and industrial sustainability.

She noted that water is central to the company’s operations, from agricultural sourcing to manufacturing, making responsible management a necessity rather than an option.

According to her, Nestlé Nigeria’s strategy extends beyond efficient internal use to include protecting shared water resources and improving access to safe water in communities.

The company also emphasised its investments in water regeneration initiatives, including solar-powered and data-driven solutions aimed at enhancing water access, quality and safety while delivering measurable benefits.

A major highlight of the conference was the launch of the National Water Quality Handbook, developed through a collaboration between Nestlé Nigeria Plc, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, and Sanitation and OPS WASH.

The handbook is expected to guide policymakers, regulators and industry players in maintaining consistent standards and best practices in water quality management.

Uwadoka stressed that achieving meaningful progress in water sustainability requires strong collaboration among stakeholders, reaffirming the company’s commitment to supporting national water and sanitation priorities through partnerships.
