The Federal Government, through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has delivered relief materials to Kebbi State to aid victims of recent rainstorms, windstorms, and floods in seven local government areas.
The handover ceremony was held at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, where NEMA Director General, Zubaida Umar, formally presented the food and non-food items to Governor Nasir Idris.
The affected areas include Shanga, Suru, Bunza, Danko-Wasagu, Koko-Besse, Augie, and another unspecified LGA.
Zubaida Umar highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to disaster response under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
She praised Kebbi State for its proactive disaster management despite facing challenges like banditry and insecurity that have displaced thousands and disrupted livelihoods.
Governor Nasir Idris expressed gratitude to NEMA and assured that the relief items would be promptly distributed to affected families.
He also pledged to support the agency in launching 200 housing units for disaster victims in the state.
The relief handover underscores the Federal Government’s dedication to assisting states affected by natural disasters and improving citizens’ welfare.
