By Abdullahi Lukman

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) last Wednesday distributed relief materials to residents affected by flood and erosion in Ikot Abasi, Mkpat Enin, and Eastern Obolo Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State.

The distribution, held at the Ikot Abasi Local Government Town Hall, was part of the Federal Government’s Special Intervention programme.

The relief items included rice, garri, spaghetti, vegetable oil, seasoning cubes, tomato paste, and iodised salt.

NEMA’s Head of Operations in Akwa Ibom, Mmandu Aisueni, represented by Assistant Chief Verification Officer, Enewan Afangide, expressed sympathy for victims and urged them to use the items wisely.

She also emphasized the need for proactive disaster risk reduction to minimize future impacts.

Aisueni reassured residents of NEMA’s commitment to timely and effective disaster response, describing the distribution as a demonstration of support and shared humanity.

Beneficiaries, represented by Comfort Ekpotu, expressed gratitude for the prompt response.
