NDE Unveil Agricultural Development Scheme In Ebonyi State to Boost Food Security
In order to enhance food production and provide meaningful engagement for the youth, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has introduced the three-day Post Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (Post-SADTS) for the year 2023 in Ebonyi State, located in Southeast Nigeria.
During his address at the Directorate State Office in Abakaliki, the state capital, the Director General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Nuhu, stated that the training aims to promote self-employment among Nigerian youths and enhance food security in the country.
The State Coordinator, Pastor Don Anaba, representing the Director General, mentioned that the training utilizes the Knowledge, Attitude, Skill, and Habit (KASH) model to enhance the post-SADTS approach in the state.
“Today, we gather here to commemorate the commencement of the KASH Medela post-SADTS training for 50 graduated beneficiaries of SADTS in Ebonyi State. This event is significant as it demonstrates the commitment of the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to youth employment generation, food security, and wealth creation in the country,” he said.
The State Coordinator urged the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity to escape unemployment and become self-reliant.
He also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, for providing a conducive environment and continuous support to NDE.
Additionally, Mr. Ozibo Gabriel, the Head of the Department of Rural Employment Promotion at NDE, encouraged the beneficiaries to take the training seriously over the next three days.
Mr. Ozibo also advised the beneficiaries to form cooperative societies among themselves, enabling them to access additional funds for business expansion.
One of the guest speakers, Mr. Ogbogu Cyril, who is also a beneficiary of NDE, remarked, “If you commit to this training, it will positively transform your life, just like it did for me.”
Dr. Onyabor Edwin, the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics Management and Extension at Ebonyi State University, advised the beneficiaries to view the training as a means of bolstering food security in the country.
However, Dr. Onyabor suggested that the campaign for agricultural revolution through NDE should be extended to various localities in order to reach the intended target audience.
Expressing his gratitude to NDE and the Nigerian government, one of the 50 beneficiaries, Mr. Onele Chukwuma, shared his appreciation.
