NatureNews HEAD Awards Nomination Ends September 4
NatureNews, Africa’s No. 1 environmental and climate change-focused newspaper, has announced the impending deadline for nominations for its prestigious Hero of Environment Actions for Development (HEAD) awards.
According to a statement released by the newspaper’s Chief Operating Officer, Pius Alabi, the nomination period will close on September 4, 2022.
The HEAD awards, which were introduced in 2021, are a testament to NatureNews’ commitment to recognizing outstanding individuals and organizations that have demonstrated exceptional dedication and innovation in the realm of climate change mitigation and sustainable environmental practices.
Mr. Alabi emphasized that these coveted awards will be presented in three distinct categories: individual, private sector, and public sector.
According to him, in line with the newspaper’s inclusive ethos, NatureNews actively encourages the nomination of women and young innovators who have been at the forefront of environmental solutions.
Last year’s inaugural HEAD awards were presented to Mrs Yemisi Iranloye, winner, Agric Value-chain category; Mustapha Gajibo who won the Renewable Energy category; Cocacola bottling company won the Climate Mitigation Category; Seplat took the Corporate Sustainability cadre while Heritage Bank got the prize for the Climate Financing category.
The inaugural awards ceremony, held in Abuja, was a resounding success, attended by distinguished figures including the former Minister of Environment, Barr Mohammed H Abdullahi.
NatureNews, the driving force behind the HEAD awards, was launched on October 1, 2020, with a resolute mission to report on critical issues pertaining to the environment, climate change, and sustainable practices.
As it nears its third anniversary, the newspaper continues to be a beacon of awareness and advocacy for a more environmentally conscious Nigeria.
