NALDA launches lastminute.com for Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship
The National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) has announced the establishment of the NALDA Institute of Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship, set to begin operations in September this year.
This initiative aims to transform agriculture into an appealing career path for Nigerian youth by providing practical training, specialized curriculum, cutting-edge technology, and entrepreneurial education in the field of agribusiness and agronomic practices.
The institute will be established in the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, with the first institute commencing activities in Aba, Abia State, within the next two months.
Paul Ikonne, the Executive Secretary of NALDA, emphasized the importance of catching young people early into agriculture.
By involving youth in farming and agribusiness, NALDA aims to achieve food security and ensure a stable and sufficient food supply for the nation.
The Aba campus is fully equipped with facilities, including a 600-capacity student sports complex, administrative blocks, libraries, laboratories, and a clinic.
NALDA also has plans for additional institutes in other states, such as Ogun and Katsina, to address the aging and retiring generation of farmers and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
This forward-looking initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s food security agenda and underscores NALDA’s commitment to empowering the next generation of farmers and agribusiness leaders in Nigeria.
