In a noteworthy initiative aimed at reshaping the landscape of food distribution and mitigating challenges faced within Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled a state-of-the-art mid-level food agro-hub in the heart of Idi-Oro, Mushin.
The disclosure of this inauguration was shared by Jubril Gawat, the Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, in a series of tweets on Sunday.
Gawat emphasized the transformative role of the agro-hub, portraying it as a key solution to prevalent issues like post-harvest losses, inflation, carbon footprint, and traffic congestion within the state’s food distribution network.
Spread across an impressive 6400 square meters, the agro-hub boasts a substantial parking area of 3,017 square meters, strategically designed to cater to trailers and diverse vehicles. It also includes centralized wet and dry storage facilities, facilitating efficient bulk purchasing.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, displaying foresight, revealed plans to replicate this groundbreaking agro-hub model in three key locations across Lagos State, specifically in Ajah, Agege, and Abule Ado. This strategic move underscores the government’s dedication to optimizing food distribution throughout the state.
This initiative highlights the Lagos State government’s commitment to modernizing and streamlining the food supply chain, offering considerable benefits to both producers and consumers within the region.
