The Moroccan Investment and Export Development Agency (AMDIE) announced its intention to attract direct investments into agriculture and green energy sectors in Yobe State, Nigeria.
This announcement was made by Yassine El Ahyani, Head of Emerging Industries at AMDIE, during a meeting with the Yobe State delegation led by Baba Malam Wali, the Secretary to the State Government, in Rabat, Morocco, on Tuesday.
El Ahyani emphasized the significant potential of Yobe’s agricultural resources, particularly sesame seeds and gum Arabic, which are in high global demand.
He noted that these products have immense market value and could offer substantial returns for investors.
“Investing in agriculture in Yobe will be a mutually beneficial opportunity, given the growing demand for agricultural products worldwide,” he stated.
In addition to agriculture, El Ahyani also highlighted opportunities for generating green energy for both local consumption and export.
He expressed a strong interest in exploring this sector further as a means of boosting the state’s economic growth.
Wali, in response, assured the agency that Yobe State offers favorable conditions for investors.
He mentioned the state’s attractive incentives, including opportunities in agriculture, particularly with sesame seeds, gum Arabic, beans, groundnuts, and other crops.
The state government, according to Wali, has also implemented policies to improve the ease of doing business and encourage direct investments.
Mustapha Goniri, the state’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Livestock Development, highlighted the potential for a collaborative effort between local farmers, the state government, and international investors to create significant investment opportunities.
Wali also pointed out that Yobe’s cargo airport would facilitate quick access to global markets for these products.
