The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on Nigerians to maintain resolve in the face of prevailing challenges, emphasizing the nation’s pursuit of progress and stability.
He made this plead through a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation (FMINO), which was made available to newsmen on Sunday.
According to the statement, the minister acknowledged the multifaceted challenges gripping the nation, including the detrimental effects of inflation on personal finances and the persistent security threats across various regions.
However, he also highlights the proactive measures being undertaken by the government to confront these issues head-on.
One of the paramount concerns addressed in the statement is the security situation in Nigeria.
The government affirms its unwavering determination to combat criminal elements, with recent operations yielding promising outcomes.
Notably, several bandits, kidnappers, and militants have been neutralized or apprehended, signalling a resolute effort to restore peace and security across the nation.
He said: “In the area of security, all threats are being boldly confronted.
“We are taking the fight to the criminals’ dens, with promising results. Within the last week, several bandits, kidnappers, and militants have been neutralized or arrested” he said.
Idris acknowledged the reoccurring insecurity issues in Plateau state and further assured Nigerians that all culprits will be brought to book.
“The resurgent crisis in Plateau State is indeed highly regrettable, and we assure that all perpetrators of violence there, and everywhere else in the country, are being brought to book.

In tandem with its security efforts, the Nigerian government is actively working to revitalize the economy and alleviate financial burdens on its citizens.
He said that collaborative efforts across ministries and agencies have been put in place to mitigate inflation, stabilize foreign exchange rates, and foster a conducive environment for business and investment.
The minister said that implementation of impactful interventions such as the Students’ Loan Scheme and the deployment of lower-cost CNG mass transit buses underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive economic growth and accessibility.
He, however, urges Nigerians to make good use of these various opportunities being presented by the government.
Idris further called on Nigerians to desist from misinformation that has been propagated through various media channels.
According to him, the relocation of certain administrative offices to Lagos is clarified as a pragmatic measure aimed at enhancing operational efficiency rather than a politically motivated endeavour.
”It is not true that the relocation to Lagos of the Headquarters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and of certain departments of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), are political moves aimed at marginalizing a section of the country.
“These allegations are unfounded. Instead, these are pragmatic administrative steps to improve operational efficiency and reduce operating costs” he said.
He emphasized the importance of the Nigerian National Values Charter, underscoring the governments commitment to transparency, accountability, and the ongoing fight against corruption.
The resilience exhibited by the Nigerian Stock Market and the influx of foreign investment serve as testament to the nation’s enduring potential and global appeal.
The Minister reiterates Nigeria’s capacity to overcome adversity through unity and hope, stating the accomplishments of the athletes at the ongoing AFCON as a perfect example of that effect.
