Minister greets Tinubu, Nigerians on New Year, pledges water sector progress in 2026

The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, has extended New Year 2026 greetings to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, key government officials, Nigerians, and stakeholders in the water and sanitation sector.
In his message, the minister highlighted 2026 as an opportunity to consolidate achievements and accelerate progress in sustainable water management, improved sanitation, and strengthened hygiene practices nationwide.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to implementing the policies of the Tinubu administration, including expanding access to safe water, promoting sanitation services, and enhancing resilience to climate change impacts.
In a statement issued by Mrs. Funmi Imuetinyan, Director of Information and Public Relations,January 1, 2026, Prof. Utsev commended development partners, professionals, and communities for their collaboration in advancing the sector and called for continued innovation, cooperation, and adherence to high standards of integrity and accountability in service delivery.
He assured Nigerians that the Ministry will maintain people-centered policies and programs to ensure sustainable water supply, better sanitation, and environmental protection.
The minister wished all Nigerian citizens a peaceful, prosperous, and fulfilling 2026.
