By Yemi Olakitan

The Mining Entrepreneurship Stakeholders has appealed to the Federal Government for a quick compensation for taking over a business premises at Karshi, Abuja.

Chairman of the Mining Stakeholders, Aminu Sani Inuwa, speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, said the expanse of land in question is a business premises occupied by a quarry company, but was taken over by the Federal Government for construction of an ultra modern Correctional Service facility.

He said the quarry, which sits on 0.8 kilometre square property, is the third best in the country in terms of its modern technological and computerised sophistication.

The chairman said the quarry had capacity to produce 2,500 tons of granite, boulders and dust, noting that the Federal Government took over the property after a month of quarry operations.

He said: “We appeal for the Federal Government’s quick action on the demand for compensation over takeover of our land and business premises for the ongoing construction of a Correctional facility at Karshi, a border community between FCT and Nasarawa State.

“This particular land and business premises is actually a quarry company operated by Mini Corporation Ltd., for which some of our members have stakes, many others run businesses of supplies and transportation.”

The stakeholders said the appeal had become necessary as the investments and business activities have been crippled, amid increasing interest in bank loans.
