In light of Nigeria’s proposed nationwide ban on single-use plastics, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has raised alarms about the potential economic challenges facing small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The call for action comes from MAN’s Director General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, who voiced the association’s apprehensions in a recent statement.

By Faridat Salifu

In a recent initiative aimed at promoting eco-friendly transportation in Nigeria, Hyundai Nigeria has commenced the local assembly of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles as part of its commitment to sustainable mobility.

This move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for a cleaner energy future and supports the Federal Government’s CNG Initiative, which seeks affordable and sustainable alternatives in the automotive industry.

Hyundai’s newly assembled models, including the Grand i10, Accent, Creta, and Tucson, are designed with the Nigerian market in mind, providing diverse options for individual consumers, fleet operators, and corporate entities alike.

The CNG vehicles come factory-fitted with advanced CNG kits that not only enhance fuel efficiency but also offer a safer and more environmentally conscious mode of transport.

Gaurav Vashisht, Head of Sales and Marketing at Hyundai Nigeria, as earlier reported by PUNCH newspaper emphasized the importance of these vehicles in transforming the automotive landscape.

“Our CNG Grand i10 is tailored for fleet owners and new buyers, prioritizing low ownership costs and reliability,” he remarked, highlighting the financial benefits that come with switching to CNG.

The newly assembled models feature state-of-the-art CNG cylinders, designed for maximum safety and trunk space efficiency, setting them apart from traditional petrol conversion kits.

Each vehicle is backed by an exceptional 3-Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty, supported by the expansive after-sales network of Stallion Group, which aims to instill confidence in customers regarding the longevity and performance of their vehicles.

In a major step to facilitate accessibility, Hyundai Nigeria has introduced flexible financing options, enabling prospective buyers to make manageable payments rather than a full upfront purchase.

This initiative aims to democratize access to cleaner transport solutions for all Nigerians, regardless of their financial background.

The local assembly of Hyundai’s CNG vehicles dovetails effectively with the government’s Presidential CNG Initiative of 2023, which promotes the production of vehicles powered by cleaner and more economical fuels.

As Hyundai shifts its focus toward local assembly, it is anticipated that the popularity of CNG vehicles will surge, providing a viable alternative to traditional petrol cars and significantly reducing transportation costs.

Moreover, these CNG vehicles don’t compromise on safety; equipped with modern features like anti-lock braking systems, rear parking assist, and dual airbags, Hyundai ensures that affordability goes hand in hand with user safety.
