Lokoja water supply to resume from old water works

Water supply to Lokoja metropolis may have resumed from Christmas day morning from the Old Lokoja Water Works.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, confirmed ed this late Wednesday after inspecting the treatment and pumping activities at the facility that the supply would resume, Thursday, Christmas day.
He said water distribution would begin with traditional areas of Lokoja before extending to the Government Reserved Area (GRA).
Farouk said workers at the water works have been directed to ensure adequate treatment and delivery of water to all reservoirs supplying the metropolis, particularly to guarantee steady supply throughout the yuletide season.
He explained that the administration of Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo has prioritized the water sector by providing consistent power supply and sufficient diesel to operate generators in the event of outages, to prevent disruptions.
The commissioner assured residents that all areas served by the Old Lokoja Water Works will enjoy regular water supply until early January 2026.
He assured that he will continue to visit the facility to monitor operations and ensure efficient service delivery.
