Lekoil Nigeria Limited has pledged to invest in the oil and gas sector, job creation, and the fostering of community growth in Akwa Ibom State.
The pledge was made by the Chief Executive Officer of the oil firm, Lekan Akinyanmi, who visited the state recently to formally announce its investment intentions and highlight its dedication to enhancing the state’s economic development.
Akinyanmi, in his address, noted that Lekoil’s commitment to Akwa Ibom is driven by the Governor Umo Eno administration’s efforts to create an enabling environment for businesses to flourish.
“Lekoil Nigeria is committed to sustainable development through responsible oil and gas operations, which will not only create jobs but also support community growth across Akwa Ibom,” the CEO said.
Governor Umo Eno, in his response, praised Lekoil’s interest in investing in Akwa Ibom and emphasized the importance of such investments for the state’s future.
He assured the company that his administration would continue to create a conducive environment for businesses, with a particular focus on enabling job creation for the state’s youthful population.
Eno also expressed his administration’s interest in Cambridge Harvest’s agricultural initiatives, which align with his vision to improve farming practices and boost food security in the state.
“The interest Lekoil has shown in investing in Akwa Ibom is a step in the right direction,” the governor said, adding, “The creation of employment opportunities for our youth and the development of the state are paramount to our vision.”
Governor Eno also pointed out that Akwa Ibom State had long been known for its potential in both the oil and gas industry and agriculture.
The governor expressed confidence that this partnership would enhance the state’s agricultural output, improve food security, and increase employment in rural communities.
