LASEPA Takes Bold Steps to Curb Noise Pollution During Festive Season

In a proactive move to address the perennial issue of noise pollution, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to creating a peaceful environment, especially during the festive season.
LASEPA recently convened a one-day stakeholders’ parley in Lagos, drawing leaders from the entertainment industry across the state. The focus of this meeting was to collaboratively devise effective solutions to tackle the growing concern of noise pollution.
Recognizing the delicate balance between a vibrant entertainment scene and the imperative for noise control, LASEPA engaged key stakeholders to foster cooperation and implement measures that will mitigate noise pollution during the upcoming festive season.
Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, emphasized the critical role of law and order in managing noise pollution, particularly during festive periods.
He stressed the importance of industry players adhering to established rules and regulations governing nightlife in Lagos State, ensuring a harmonious coexistence between entertainment and community well-being.
Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, underscored the need for collaboration among stakeholders to address the negative impacts of noise pollution from nightclubs.
He advocated for sustainable solutions that strike a balance between a vibrant nightlife and the well-being of residents.
Ajayi highlighted the significance of public awareness campaigns and educational initiatives to promote responsible noise levels within the entertainment industry.
