Lagos pure water producers set new minimum price at N400 per bag

The Hygienic Water Producers Association of Nigeria (HWAPAN), Lagos State chapter, has announced a new minimum price of N400 for a bag of sachet water containing 20 sachets, citing rising production costs, wages and equipment maintenance.
The decision was made during the association’s 2025 annual general meeting held on Wednesday at Dora Hall, Magodo, where members reviewed industry challenges, financial performance and adopted key resolutions.
The event also featured the launch of HWAPAN’s constitution and by-laws, as well as recognition of selected patrons for their contributions to safe water production.
Addressing members, State Chairman Rev. Ebere Ibeawuchi said producers remain committed to supplying hygienic water despite increasing operational pressures.
He noted ongoing engagements with regulatory bodies such as SON and NAFDAC to promote compliance and reduce friction within the sector.
Ibeawuchi also highlighted the association’s participation in Lagos State’s waste management programme to ensure environmental responsibility.
He acknowledged previous difficulties in maintaining unified pricing but stressed that pricing regulation does not fall under government authority.
He insisted that N400 remains the lowest viable selling price for a bag of sachet water, urging producers to adhere to the minimum rate to sustain operations in the current economic climate.
