Kyrgyzstan Showcases Renewable Energy, Organic Products at Osaka EXPO 2025

Kyrgyzstan has officially opened its pavilion at the World Expo 2025, which commenced on April 13 in Osaka, Japan, under the global theme focused on the future, health, and sustainability in a post-COVID world.
Designed to align with the Expo’s emphasis on the Sustainable Development Goals, the Kyrgyz pavilion highlights three core areas: organic products, tourism, and renewable energy, all while reflecting the country’s cultural heritage and environmental values.
Deputy Director of the National Investment Agency and Secretary General from Kyrgyzstan at Expo 2025, Zhalyn Zheenaliev, explained that the pavilion showcases the country’s potential and commitment to sustainability.
In the area of organic products, visitors are introduced to a variety of Kyrgyz goods, including honey, dried fruits, and bottled water.
Zheenaliev recalled a moment of solidarity with Japan when Kyrgyzstan provided water during the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011—an act that resonated deeply with the Japanese public and remains fondly remembered.
Tourism is another key element of the pavilion, with panoramic visuals of Kyrgyzstan’s renowned landmarks such as Issyk-Kul Lake, Sulaiman-Too, and the ancient Burana Tower.
The pavilion particularly highlights Kyrgyzstan’s mountainous terrain, drawing attention to the country’s efforts to preserve glaciers and protect the endangered snow leopard.
These displays are intended not only to entice visitors to explore the country but also to raise awareness of the impact of climate change.
According to Zheenaliev, showcasing environmental challenges like glacier melt and carbon emissions is a priority, as Kyrgyzstan advocates for global cooperation in climate action.
Renewable energy is also a central theme, with the pavilion featuring plans for small and medium hydropower facilities, along with solar and wind energy projects.
These initiatives underscore Kyrgyzstan’s resource-rich landscape and its commitment to green development.
The pavilion serves as a platform for presenting ongoing and future energy projects, inviting collaboration and investment from international stakeholders.
Unlike many high-tech exhibits, Kyrgyzstan’s approach emphasizes cultural authenticity and human connection.
Traditional Kyrgyz handicrafts are on display, reflecting both Kyrgyz and Japanese artistry and values.
The pavilion allows visitors to immerse themselves in a nomadic atmosphere and experience Kyrgyz hospitality through interactive elements.
One of the standout attractions is the Mirror Look feature, where artificial intelligence digitally dresses visitors in traditional Kyrgyz attire, allowing them to take a souvenir photo they can share online.
The domestic IT innovation AkylAI, capable of communicating in Kyrgyz, Japanese, and English, is also showcased, further demonstrating the country’s growing tech capabilities.
A robot greeter at the entrance welcomes guests in Japanese, enhancing the overall experience and cultural exchange.
Zheenaliev emphasized that the design and concept of the pavilion reflect the vision of the President of Kyrgyzstan, who prioritizes the development of green energy, promotion of organic products, and protection of mountainous regions.
With strong attendance and positive reception, Kyrgyzstan’s presence at Expo 2025 is positioned not only as a celebration of national identity but as a call to global cooperation on sustainability and innovation.
