Kwara State Commissioner of Environment, Mallam Shehu Ndanusa Usman, has announced the provision of life jackets by the government to tackle boat mishaps, underscoring the state’s commitment to citizen safety and security.
The distribution, facilitated by Executive Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, targeted the communities of Patigi and Lafiagi in Patigi and Edu Local Government Areas.
It aimed not only to offer water transportation alternatives, especially with the impending rainy season, but also to bolster the Kwara State Fire Service’s disaster management capabilities.

Ndanusa emphasized that the initiative would significantly curtail riverine accidents and elevate the state’s disaster preparedness.
He urged recipients to adhere to safety protocols and reiterated support for the government’s efforts in advancing democracy’s dividends.
Acknowledging Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s swift response in disaster management, Etsu Patigi, His Royal Highness Etsu Ibrahim Umar Bologi II, and Emir of Lafiagi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammad Kudu Kawu, donated additional boats and life jackets to their respective communities, affirming solidarity with the administration.
Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, State Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, commended the government’s gesture, vowing continued effective service delivery to residents.
Present at the ceremony were notable figures including Alhaji Ibrahim Liman, Chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee of Patigi Local Government, Hon. Umar Muhammad Attairu, Special Adviser on Youth Engagement, Alhaji Ahmed Ndake, Tsada of Lafiagi, and officials from the Ministry and Kwara State Fire Service, signifying collaborative efforts towards a safer Kwara.
