Kwara Government to empower 100,000 farmers, artisans

Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP), is set to empower over a hundred thousand farmers and artisans in the state with support in form of cash grants or inputs like equipment, tools or raw materials.
The General Manager, Muhammad Brimah, disclosed this on Friday at the enumeration programme for the beneficiaries in Ilorin, where he said that the scheme will be in phases, starting with the enumeration of all artisan groups to ascertain those qualified to receive the government’s support.
According to Brimah, the scheme is an expansion of the state social investment initiative to assist owners of micro businesses, including artisans and small scale farmers.
Also, Chairman KWASSIP Board Alhaji Abdullateef Oloyin said the interactive session was called to harvest views and requests of the artisan groups, which would guide the board’s planning and decisions on the new scheme.
Speaking, the President of Artisans Congress, Kwara State branch, Alhaji Adeshina Jimoh said the association was in support of the enumeration exercise and appreciated the Governor for being passionate about the welfare of artisans in the state.
