Kaduna State will host the 2026 Annual Week and National Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), with more than 2,000 delegates expected to attend, Commissioner for Information Ahmed Maiyaki has announced.

Maiyaki made this known while receiving the NIPR national planning committee led by Yomi Badejo-Okusanya at the Ministry of Information, describing Kaduna’s selection as a validation of the state’s governance reforms, improved security and economic recovery efforts.

The conference, themed “Nigeria’s Food Security: From Policy Paper to Public Plate – The Imperative of Public Relations,” is scheduled to hold from April 19 to 25, 2026.

It will bring together public relations experts, policymakers and industry leaders to explore how strategic communication can translate food security policies into tangible benefits for citizens.

Highlighting the state’s preparedness, Maiyaki said the administration of Governor Uba Sani has distributed over 900 trucks of fertiliser to 200,000 smallholder farmers to boost agricultural productivity.

He added that commercial activities have resumed in Birnin Gwari, with 40 trucks of livestock transported weekly, while more than 300,000 out-of-school children have been re-enrolled as part of the Kaduna Peace Model.

The commissioner also noted that 255 primary healthcare centres have been upgraded and renovated to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

According to Maiyaki, food security goes beyond policy documents and reflects the ability of farmers to work safely, traders to move goods freely, children to return to school and families to access healthcare—measures he described as practical foundations for stability and growth.
