KADCCIMA President hails Gov Sani for business-friendly land policy

The President of the Kaduna State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KADCCIMA), Esv. Ishaya Idi has applauded Governor Uba Sani for his business-friendly land policy.

He described the administration’s decision to formalize and regularize government areas encroached upon by communities and organizations as a commendable strategic move.

Esv. Idi said this in a press release made available to NatureNews by DG of KACCIMA, Dr. Usman Saulawa on Thursday.

“In this most challenging period, the steps taken by the Governor are visionary, salutary, and business-friendly and should be applauded by all and sundry” he said.

Idi expressed gratitude for the governor’s pro-poor approach, emphasizing its positive impact on preventing social dislocation and economic losses.

He said the approval of 19 area regularisation layouts reflects the vision that aligns with the needs of both the people and businesses in Kaduna State.

The KACCIMA President emphasized the need for prompt action in perfecting planning permissions and official documentation.

He said the appeal was aimed at preventing penalties and ensuring a smooth transition following the regularization process.

Said he: “We appeal to community leaders and all stakeholders in all the communities that benefited from this laudable initiative to quickly mobilize their residents to reciprocate the kind gesture of the state governor by immediately and massively taking steps to perfect planning permissions and other official documentation involved against prompt payment of required dues within the given timeframe”.

He further stated that to avoid being penalized in line with extant provisions of the law as the relevant authorities have already put in place measures to facilitate the process of regularisation in a most affordable way.

Looking beyond the current initiative, KADCCIMA’s president, who urged Governor Sani to continue with his plans on land policy, advised him to resist any undue pressures from land grabbers and those advocating for unfair plot allocations.

According to him, the suggestion to adopt forward planning post-regularization, with the financing mechanism through development levies, reflects a proactive approach to sustaining a business-friendly environment.

“Steps must be taken to effectively resist undue pressure from land grabbers and avoid disproportionate plot allocations to the rich and the mighty to the detriment of the customary land owners.

“We suggest that the State Government should fully adopt forward planning and ensure that as cities in the state expand, appropriate layouts should be developed with the complement of necessary infrastructures.

“As such, allottees will be charged development levies commensurate with what is offered while accrued revenue therefore applied to fund new infrastructure and to defray other associated costs.

“This way, a revolving fund will be created to ensure sustainability of the business model” he added.

The President reassured the governor of the business community’s unwavering support, pledging a collaborative effort to deepen Public-Private Partnership in the state.
