The Hydro Power Producing Areas Development Commission (HYPPADEC), says it is engaging the international community to seek support for the agency and its areas of operations in addressing ecological challenges.
Managing Director, Abubakar Yelwa, stated this while speaking on the sidelines of the COP28 in Dubai on Monday.
Yelwa, who spoke to SOBI FM, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to addressing ecological and environmental challenges in Kwara and other states under its jurisdiction.
He said the agency’s focus on securing international support underscores its dedication to addressing ecological issues and contributing to sustainable development in the covered communities.
He also emphasized the significance of attending the COP28, and expressed optimism of positive outcomes stemming from engagements with international organizations.
Yelwa also highlighted the agency’s intention to leverage global support to enhance its interventions.
He expressed hope that the financial interventions sought would significantly benefit the 1,900 communities under the HYPPADEC’s purview.
“We are here to introduce HYPPADEC to the international community to explore financial interventions for the various challenges of ecology facing communities covered by HYPPADEC.
“This event is a welcome development, and our efforts will yield results based on the number of international organizations we have been able to meet with.
“When we go back home, we will look at our structure to see how we can improve on what we are doing,” he stated.
