Hydro Africa conference gets underway in Uganda

The Fourth International Conference and Exhibition on Water Storage and Hydropower Development for Africa has commenced in Kampala, Uganda.
President Kaguta Museveni welcomed all the delegates and participants at the conference and asked them to embrace powering Africa with much consideration on water storage and hydro power development for the development of a brighter Africa.
The conference, which will run from the 10th to the 12th of July, has brought together over 500 delegates from over 50 countries and experts from all parts of the world to focus on issues related to water
conservation and hydropower development.
“As the host country, we are happy to announce that the Hydro Africa 2023 conference and Exhibition is underway under the theme: Water Storage and Hydropower Development for Africa. This event promises to spark essential discussions on powering Africa’s future. With a focus on Africa’s interests, the conference aims to address challenges and
future plans for hydropower development. This Fourth International Conference and Exhibition on Water Storage and Hydropower Development for Africa is a platform to connect experts, policymakers, civil societies, and more from around the world,” read a statement from the Ugandan Government.
In addition, CEO of the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) Harrison Mutikanga said the conference will benefit Uganda in many ways
“The conference will benefit Uganda in many ways including; information sharing on water storage and hydropower development, technological advancement sharing, research, and innovation. The theme for this conference defines our collective commitment to explore,
strategize and propel the continent towards a brighter, greener, and more sustainable future in hydropower development,” said Mutikanga.
