Honey and you

Honey is a viscous and sweet tasting fluid produced from plant nectar by bees. It is a rich source of minerals such as iron, calcium and magnesium. Honey is fat-free, cholesterol-free, sodium-free and rightly called nature’s sweet nectar. It is known as immune booster, and it aids with weight loss.
Honey is preferred instead of sugars and sweeteners in teas, baked goodies or spread on bread. It has a natural sugar which prevent fatigue during exercise and also great for improving athletic performance. The glucose in honey is quickly absorbed by the body resulting to an immediate energy boost, while the fructose provides sustained energy since it is slowly absorbed. Honey helps to keep the level of blood sugar fairly constant when compared to other sugar types.
Honey is known for its powerful antimicrobial properties. It can be used to cure a persistent cough. It soothes the throat and also kills certain bacteria which may lead to infection. It also improves the quality of sleep.
Honey had been used traditionally in the healing and treatment of wounds and injuries. It is made up of glucose and fructose which dries up the water in wounds. It promotes healing and known as a natural first aid cure for wounds, burns and cuts. The antiseptic properties of honey are known to inhibit the growth of certain bacteria and help keep external wounds free from infection. It decreases swelling, pain and even scarring as a result of its anti-inflammatory properties.
Honey is known for other amazing health benefits which include: prevention of heart related diseases, cures hangover, moisturizes the skin and treats dandruff.
