Coconuts are edible fruits gotten from the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera) which are one of the most essential crops of the tropics. Today, Coconuts are cultivated widely and well known for its flavour, culinary uses and numerous health benefits.
Coconuts are highly nutritious, they provide mostly healthy fat. They are also rich in Protein, minerals, Vitamin B. Coconuts is high in Magnesium which helps with muscle and nerve functions and supporting the immune system and the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and cholesterol.
They are rich sources of Iron and Copper that helps in red blood cells formation. It contains Selenium an essential antioxidants that protects the cells.
Coconut meat (white flesh of coconut) is a source of phenolic compounds like garlic acids, caffeic acid, salicylic acid, p-coumaric acid which are antioxidants that protects the cells from free radicals that casues harm to the body.
The water gotten from a young Coconut are rich sources of electrolytes which are essential for keeping the body hydrated and helps the nerves to function properly. Drinking Coconut water may help to promote kidney health by preventing and loosening kidney stones.
Coconut oil could help to lower the growth of several strains of bacteria. Coconut oil can be applied on the hair and skin. They nourish and moisturizes the skin, hair and scalp.
