Green tech: Innoson produces Gas-powered vehicles
Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing has successfully manufactured a wide range of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Buses, offering a viable alternative for Nigerians amidst the increasing costs of petrol and diesel.
The unveiling of these CNG vehicles occurred at the IVM factory in Nnewi recently. The vehicle lineup includes trucks, mini-buses, ambulances, long buses, SUVs, and various others.
During the event, Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, the CEO of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing, reassured Nigerians about the safety of CNG Vehicles and the availability of diverse car options.
He emphasized that the company produces vehicles based on demand, citing examples such as the increased production of ambulances during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Chukwuma expressed the company’s readiness to fulfill the market’s needs.
Regarding the future of alternative fuels, Dr. Chukwuma highlighted the significance of CNG vehicles in reducing reliance on a limited range of vehicles. He stated that the production facility also manufactures electric cars, biogas vehicles, and solar-powered vehicles, allowing for a wide array of options.
Representing the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, the Commissioner for Industry, stated that Anambra State is committed to providing solutions to the challenges Nigerians face due to the removal of subsidies.
He acknowledged Innoson’s renewable technologies, including CNG, LNG, and solar-powered technologies, as potential contributors to Nigeria’s mass transport system and other national solutions.
Mr. Udechukwu emphasized the need for local manufacturing and empowered industries to boost the economy and reduce the national debt, highlighting Innoson as a prime example.
Mr. Cornel Osigwe, the Head of Corporate Communications at Innoson Vehicles, emphasized the advantages of Natural Gas Vehicles and the importance of supporting local manufacturers.
He explained that gas has a higher combustion rate and is more environmentally friendly compared to traditional fuel options.
Mr. Osigwe stressed the critical role of transportation in economic development, stating that improved transportation options can address the growing dependence on petrol and diesel in Nigeria, which has a population of over 200 million people.
As an indigenous car manufacturing company, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing has successfully produced numerous CNG-powered vehicles that are well-suited for Nigerian and African roads.
