Green Initiative As Driver For Solution To Global Hunger Crisis

By Obiabin Onukwugha

There has been a growing global awareness on the urgent need to address environmental issues and adopt sustainable practices.

It cannot be overstated that the world is in dire need of innovative solutions as food shortages exacerbate global food crisis.

Through different approaches and proclamations, world bodies such as the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO), and as well different countries have continued to adopt approaches that mitigate hunger and food shortages.

Entrepreneurs have also employed techniques that are eco friendly in doing their businesses.

One of such ways, is adopting green technology or agro-ecology approaches in farming practices.

With the increasing threat of climate change, the depletion of natural resources, and the alarming levels of pollution, the drive for solution has been on the increase.

This has also given rise to entrepreneurs providing solution through green farming innovations, especially in local communities.

Green entrepreneurship refers to the practice of starting and running businesses that prioritize environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

These entrepreneurs are driven by a desire to make a positive impact on the planet while also generating profits. They are at the forefront of developing and implementing sustainable technologies, products, and services.

Some green entrepreneurs have also gone ahead to empower women and communities through sustainable farming approaches.

One of such entrepreneurs is the Sankalp Foundation in India.

It was gathered that in rural India, the Sankalp Foundation has been working tirelessly to empower women farmers and promote sustainable agricultural practices.

By providing training and resources, the foundation has helped women gain the skills and knowledge needed to cultivate crops using organic and sustainable methods.

As a result, these women have not only improved their own livelihoods but have also become leaders and role models in their communities.
