By Abdullahi Lukman

Kano state governor Abba Yusuf has pledged to tackle water scarcity in Kano State following an inspection of major water treatment plants across the state.

The governor undertook the tour to assess the condition of facilities and identify solutions to inadequate water supply affecting several areas, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad.

During the visit, Yusuf inspected key components such as treatment machines, distribution pipelines and other infrastructure, beginning with the Tamburawa treatment plant, where he identified issues including pipe leakages, faulty equipment and obsolete machinery.

He assured that his administration would rehabilitate damaged facilities and improve operations to ensure efficient and consistent water supply to residents.

Yusuf also disclosed plans to collaborate with CGC to conduct feasibility studies and implement lasting solutions to the state’s water challenges.

He said the partnership is part of a broader strategy to revitalise water infrastructure, enhance public health and guarantee sustainable access to clean and safe drinking water.

The governor reiterated that providing potable water remains a top priority, vowing that the government will take all necessary steps to ensure residents have reliable access to quality water.
