Gov Lalong lauds agro-firm for plans to export exotic flowers to Europe

Gov. Simon Lalong has lauded a Plateau-based Agro investor for initiating plans to export exotic flowers to Europe.

This is contained in a statement  issued by  Lalong’s  Director of Press and Public Affairs, Simon Macham in Jos.

Lalong, who received the investor, Mr Ellio Faddoul, said the initiative to begin flower export was in line with his vision to boost the economy of the state.

He said that Plateau was renowned for  exotic flower export in the 60s.

”Plateau remains the only the state in  Nigeria that exports flowers and other exotic fruits because of  our natural climate and weather conditions.

”President Muhammadu Buhari has also  approved the designation of the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Heipang, as one of Nigeria’s cargo airports and work will soon commence for its upgrade.

”We will continue to provide conducive environment for investors to do business in the state and assist to reduce unemployment and joblessness,” he said.

Earlier, Faddoul told the governor that his company had trained and hired experts from within the country and Kenya to ensure that the farm achieved its goal within the shortest possible time.

He said he was at the Government House to also appreciate the governor for his efforts towards restoring peace in the state,

According to him, this has made it possible for my company to remain in the state in spite of the security challenges, experienced in the past.

He said the company had expanded the production of exotic fruits and venture into flower production which was in high demand in Europe and other parts of the world.

He said over 100 workers are now employed in the farm alone.
