Gov Diri meets protesters, promises solution to food price hike

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has pledged to intensify efforts to alleviate the current economic hardships faced by residents, with a particular focus on reducing food prices.

The governor made this commitment during a meeting with representatives of the hunger protest at the government house in Yenagoa over the weekend.

The representatives of the End Bad Government protest, which took place earlier in Yenagoa, met with Governor Diri in the conference hall to discuss critical issues, including police brutality and the rising cost of living, particularly the increasing prices of food and petrol.

Governor Diri acknowledged their concerns and expressed his commitment to addressing the high cost of food items.

He also assured the representatives that he would engage with security agencies to address the issue of youth intimidation by the police.

Following the meeting, Governor Diri held a media briefing with journalists, outlining the government’s policies and plans to ensure sustained prosperity and peace in the state.

He emphasized that his administration is dedicated to finding practical solutions to the economic challenges and improving the overall well-being of Bayelsa’s residents.
