Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has intensified grassroots engagement to promote agriculture as a foundation for local economic development in Ghana.

Dumelo made the call during a visit to the West Akim Constituency, where he met with farmers to discuss practical challenges and opportunities in sustainable agriculture.

The engagement focused on improving farm productivity and strengthening agribusiness at the community level.

As part of the visit, Dumelo also addressed students of Asamankese Senior High School on the role of agriculture in national development.

He encouraged young people to view agriculture as a modern and innovative sector with opportunities in processing, packaging, and branding.

Dumelo said youth participation is critical to the long-term sustainability of Ghana’s food systems.

He commended the Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim, Kwame Frimpong, for supporting the outreach and fostering collaboration.

The lawmaker described the interactions with farmers and students as productive and necessary for building resilient local economies.
