Ghana has recently released a documentary titled “The Renewable Charge” focusing on the impactful journey of the Renewable Energy for Communities (RE4C) campaign.
The film sheds light on the collaboration between 350 Ghana Reducing Our Carbon (350 G-ROC) and 350Africa.org in advocating for renewable energy solutions in the country, bringing attention to grassroots efforts in the renewable energy sector.
Through “The Renewable Charge,” viewers are offered a glimpse into the dedicated work of organizations like 350 G-ROC and 350Africa.org in promoting sustainable energy practices in Ghana.
The documentary highlights the significant strides made by the RE4C campaign, emphasizing the importance of renewable energy advocacy in local communities and the positive impact it has on combating climate change.
Highlighting the achievements of the RE4C campaign, the documentary showcases efforts ranging from community education on solar benefits to engaging policymakers and lobbying for renewable energy initiatives.
The campaign’s success in opposing a coal-fired power plant in the Ekumfi District spurred the launch of the RE4C campaign, uniting community members, activists, and stakeholders in advancing renewable energy solutions and advocating for greater renewable energy ambition in Ghana.
The documentary release coincided with Solar Appreciation Day and was accompanied by a webinar. Community screenings are scheduled to take place in Pungu and Nawognia areas in Navrongo, Northern Ghana, alongside the distribution of solar bulbs to local communities.
The campaign aims to empower communities to take control of their energy future and advocates for the implementation of Ghana’s renewable energy plans, including achieving 10% renewable energy in the country’s energy mix by 2030.
