Foundation launches book to honour Director, National Biosafety Management Agency

Senator Solomon Adeola, representing Lagos West Central in the National Assembly, has urged women in positions of authority to fight for the rights of everyone in the society.

Adeola gave the advice at the launching of Oyine Rebecca Fountain of Life Foundation and a book, on Tuesday night in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new book launched is titled; “The Emergence of a Heroine’’ written in honour of Mrs Rebecca Oamen, Director of Administration and Finance at the National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA), Abuja.

The foundation is a humanitarian Non-Governmental Organisation based in Abuja that caters for the poor and needy.

The book is written by Mr Iduh Matthew who is a former member of Otukpo Local Government Legislative Council, Benue State.

The Senator, who is also the chairman of the occasion, commended Oamen for her professional abilities while discharging her duties as a director in NBMA.

Adeola described her as a woman of virtue who had been tested, trusted and is reliable.

He further described the director as a woman who is passionate about her fellow women and a professional per excellence.

Adeola said that wherever Oamen found herself, she would never disappoint the public and he urged everyone to support her in her humanitarian work.

“I strongly recommend her for future positions in government because she will not disappoint, she will offer her best for the emancipation of the people,’’ he said.

In her speech, Oamen expressed happiness over the book launch saying that she craved for it following many years of passion she had for the needy.

She said the book is a life rescue mission for humanity and a pace setter for a lifetime.

Oamen said that the foundation of which she is a member, is to serve humanity and give life to the lifeless and the helpless.

“We will help the widows and orphans in the communities,” she said.

Oamen said her passion for the less privileged had been on since 2006.

She promised that her NGO would go into communities to provide affordable health care facilities to the less privileged.

Oamen promised to partner with government stressing that government could not do everything.

“Where there are no transformers, if we have money we will put transformers on ground.

“Where there is no potable water on ground we will partner with relevant bodies.

“We will also partner with hospitals to be able to give free medical treatment at the grassroots amongst many interventions for humanity.

“I have been on it for a while but now I decided to launch this foundation so that we can have a wider coverage,” she explained.

Oamen assured that the foundation would partner with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and international NGOs in discharging its duties.

The author, Matthew said that the title of the book did not just emerge as the book symbolised the coming of a heroine.

He described Oamen as a selfless person who is determined to help others.

“Now we live in a world that is engulfed with selfishness, so the ability of a person to overcome a particular trait that is peculiar to this generation makes the person a peculiar person,” Mathew said.

He also described her as someone who has touched lives by coming to the aid of people who are in need and leaving her comfort zone to satisfy them.

Mathew said that these attributes of hers were not quite common in the society today.

“She has been able to distinguish herself therefore, she is worth being celebrated on a day like this,” he said.

NAN reports that the book which has 145 pages was reviewed by Dr John David, the Deputy Registrar, Federal University of Technology, Benue State.

The Chief Executive Officer of NBMA, Chief Rufus Ogene, was also present at the occasion.
