A devastating flood has swept through several communities in Gada and Dange-Shuni Local Government Areas of Sokoto State, leaving a trail of destruction and displacing about 2,000 people and 600 hectares farmland submerged.
The Director of Relief and Rehabilitation in the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mustapha Umar, confirmed the disaster, stating that many houses and farmlands were submerged in the affected areas.

According to him, in Gada LGA, about 1,700 people were affected, with 600 hectares of farmland underwater, resulting in significant losses of farm animals and foodstuff.
Other affected communities are Dantudu, Balakozo, Gidan-Tudu, and Tsitse. SEMA is still assessing the situation in Dange-Shuni to determine the extent of the damage and the number of residents affected.
Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, leader of the APC in the state and representative of Sokoto North, expressed sympathy for the victims, praying for divine intervention to bring succour to those affected.
The flood has exacerbated the plight of residents in the region, highlighting the need for urgent relief efforts and long-term measures to mitigate the impact of such disasters.
