By Grace Samuel
Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, has outlined the objectives of the ministry, with a strong emphasis on achieving food security and reducing food inflation.
The Federal Government is actively working on initiatives to lower the nation’s food inflation rate, as announced by Senator Kyari during a courtesy visit to Abuja from Jigawa Governor Umar Namadi.
Addressing the issue, Senator Kyari stated, “We also plan to produce in large quantities to reduce food inflation, as food price inflation is currently the main cause of inflation.”
He highlighted that the President Bola Tinubu’s food security policy is progressing, and food production programs will continue in 2024 to benefit Nigerians.
The primary objective of the ministry is to significantly increase the production of staple crops through the application of technology and mechanization.
Senator Kyari expressed gratitude for the President’s support and direction, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to leading the transformation of agriculture, boosting productivity, and ensuring farmers have the necessary resources for success.
In alignment with the goals set by the President for the agriculture industry, the ministry is dedicated to making Nigeria a more food-secure nation.
The continued focus on increased production aims to address food inflation and contribute to the overall development and sustainability of the agricultural sector.
