FG donated 90,000 bags of grains to Yobe in 7 months – SEMA boss

Yobe State Government on Monday said it had received a donation of over 90,000 bags of grains from the Federal Government since March 2023.

Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr Muhammed Goje, disclosed this in an interview in Damaturu.

He said that the donation was part of government’s efforts to cushion hardship in the state.

Goje listed the grains to include: 30,000 bags of rice and 60,000 bags of sorghum and maize.

The executive secretary commended the federal government for its continuous support to the state government’s efforts toward alleviating poverty.

“The state government has been working tirelessly to provide support to its citizens and the federal government’s donation is a welcome addition to these efforts,” he said.

Goje said that the grains had since been distributed to the poorest of the poor across the 17 local government areas of the state.
