Water Resources Minister, Engr. Suleiman H. Adamu said the Federal Government has completed 34 water projects that were inherited from the previous administrations and saved about N63 billion of tax payers money in six years.
The Minister disclosed this at the third media week engagement on the sideline of the 28th Regular Meeting of the National Council of Water Resources held yesterday in Abuja.

Engr. Adamu, who noted that the Zobe Regional Water Supply which was commissioned this year had been abandoned for nearly 30 years, said the Buhari administration has prioritised more projects for completion by 2023.
The Minister said he was able to achieve substantial reduction on the completion costs of the projects due to prudent management of scarce resources and his insistence on technical audit and financial reviews of all projects.
Giving the details of his intervention in water supply, Engr. Adamu said access to water supply in Nigeria has improved from 68% to 71% between 2015 and 2020 thereby expanding the water coverage to 12.5 million population.
He said the Buhari administration is focused on fulfilling his mandates with the completion of many water projects supplying a total capacity of 146,669,125 litres of water per day in the last six years.
