A team of security operatives embarked on demolition of shops at the Karu Market in Abuja on Tuesday.
The operatives included members of the Abuja Environmental Protection, Nigerian Police Force; Department of State Services (DSS); Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO); Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), among others.
A trader, who spoke with Daily Trust on the condition of anonymity, blamed the FCT authorities for inflicting hardship on the traders in the market.
Reacting, Senior Special Assistant to FCT Minister on Enforcement, Ikharo Attah, said the demolition was to address the worrisome and disturbing experience of motorists who pass through the Karu market part of the Nyanya-Karu-Karshi road.
