Veteran sports journalist and ace media executive, Dr. Mumini Alao, will unveil his much-anticipated autobiography at a special public lecture slated for Sunday, 10th August 2025, at the Tayo Aderinokun Hall, University of Lagos, Akoka-Yaba, Lagos.
The event, jointly organised by Pentacrest Company Limited and Complete Sports newspaper, will be headlined by distinguished personalities, including sports stakeholders from across the country.
Former governor of Lagos State and immediate past Minister of Works, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola will present a guest lecture on “Rethinking the Current Football Business Model in Nigeria as a Catalyst for Sports Development.”
Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, will grace the occasion as Chairman while honourable Kabiru Amadu, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, is the special guest and co-launcher.
President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and seasoned administrator, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, is the Special Guest on the occasion slated to start at 1pm.
Other guests expected at the book presentation are scholars, members of University of Lagos Alumni Association, legislators, media executives, sports writers, and students.
The event also enjoys the partnership of brands and institutions such as MTN, Supersport, Brilla FM, IBST, Lagos Talks 91.3FM, Eagle 103.7 FM, NatureNews, and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
Dr. Alao is renowned for his remarkable contributions to sports journalism and media entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
With an impressive career spanning nearly forty years, Dr. Alao, who is Executive Consultant at Complete Communications Limited, gained global prominence as Group Managing Director of CompleteCommunications, publishers of Complete Sports, and sister titles.
He is also a full-time director at Medianomics Limited, where he continues to influence the Nigerian media space.
A prolific writer, Dr. Alao is the author of “The Making of Nigeria’s Dream Team: Football Gold Medal Winners at Atlanta ’96 Olympic Games”.
The book, whose forward was penned by the inimitable football maestro, Chief Segun Odegbami, a compelling documentation of the historic journey of Nigeria’s under-23 football team that clinched Africa’s first Olympic football gold medal at the 1996 Games in the USA.
Dr. Mumini Alao holds a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.
He is a distinguished member of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and the International Sports Press Association (AIPS).
Through his writings and public commentary, Dr. Alao has been an enduring advocate for professionalism, reform, and sustainable development in Nigeria’s sports sector.
